Best bird’s-eye views in Saigon

The number of sky-high glass towers sprouting in Ho Chi Minh City is phenomenal. Much of downtown is a building site and outlying sites are scenes of huge construction in a building boom that is sweeping the city. Where to survey the action?
At a lower level is the spruced up Rex Hotel with its rooftop bar, fitted with a kitsch revolving crown, from where the traffic on Le Loi can be seen. From the Saigon Saigon bar on the 10th floor of the Hotel Caravelle, Lam Son Square and the newly opened high rise on Dong Khoi can be spied. The Sheraton’s Level 23 alfresco bar offers a sweeping view of downtown. For panoramic and far flung views climb the tower to the 33rd floor of the Saigon Trade Center and for river bustle and development in District 2 across the Saigon River, watch the climbing scaffolding and busy barges from the Chique bar of the Landmark Building on Ton Duc Thang St not far from the Vung Tau ferry port.
